🎼 If you are a complete beginner
I would not recommend jumping straight into songs. A good first progression is:
Week 1
- Learn the parts of the violin and bow
- Learn how to hold the violin
- Learn correct posture
- Learn how to hold the bow
- Learn how to tune the violin
Week 2
- Open-string bowing
- Straight bow
- Long, slow bow strokes
- Learn the four strings: G – D – A – E
Week 3
- Left-hand position
- First finger
- Second finger
- Third finger
- Basic notes in first position
Week 4
- Simple scales
- Simple rhythms
- Reading basic violin notation
- Easy songs such as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Ode to Joy, or Happy Birthday
The most important thing is good posture and bow technique at the beginning. If these are learned incorrectly, they can become difficult habits to correct later. Beginner violin resources also emphasize proper positioning and technique from the first lessons.
🇰🇼 If you’re learning from Kuwait
If you would prefer a real teacher in Kuwait rather than learning completely by yourself, Kuwait Music Academy offers violin instruction for beginners through advanced students, including music theory and structured learning.
For online lessons, there are also teachers offering one-to-one violin instruction internationally, including students in Kuwait.
My suggestion: Start with Violin Lab or Violin Lounge, spend the first month learning the fundamentals, and then consider a teacher to check your violin hold, bow hold, posture and intonation. Those are much easier to correct early than later.
